How To Be A Great Leader Without Trying Too Hard
It's not easy to figure out what people look for in their leader. You must be disciplined and understand what qualities respected leaders have. In addition to learning the how and what, you have to know the why.

Always be ethical. In order for your business to be successful in the long-term, being ethical is key. Customers are faithful to companies that are known to truly care about them. You can make sure that your employees follow the rules if you develop a company policy on ethics.

Do not act like you know it all. Even your perfect ideas can be wrong at times. Don't let your judgement cloud you or prevent you from listening to others around you. They will be able to give you pointers with your plans and ideas.

Be sure you are an approachable leader. You should not try to rule with intimidation, even if others do. Unfortunately, this aggressive approach will work against you. Be kind, caring and compassionate instead.

Acknowledge any mistakes that you make. Even the best leaders will make the occasional mistake. Great leaders recognize their mistakes, learn from them and use this experience to help others avoid these mistakes. It shows that you're a a real person too and not above them. That may not seem like the traits of a leader, but sometimes that humanity breeds major loyalty.

Prepare for group meetings. Anticipate their questions in advance. Think about how you will answer them. If you are full of answers, the team will respect your expertise. It'll also be a major time saver over the course of the meeting.

Always keep moving forward. When you do make mistakes, let them propel you by what you learn from them. Now is the time to use what you have learned. A great leader has confidence in his or her abilities, and can offer plenty of help to the team.
